About this Episode

Opening Song:

Stayed on Him by Darren Mulligan, Gabriel Patillo, Kyle Williams, Terrian Woods

Lyrics:

There's a world full of mercy and peace

Mercy and peace

Waiting for me

There's a land for the lost and the least

Where they dine with the King

Waiting for me

Yeah His holiness fills up the temple

Still He took my sin and my shame

I didn't deserve to be rescued

Still He has called me by name

I'll stand firm with confidence

'Til He comes again 'til He comes again

I'll keep my mind stayed on Him

'Til the very end 'til the very end

I will keep my mind

Stayed on Him stayed on Him

I will keep my mind

Stayed on Him stayed on Him

There's a Savior with wounds you can see

In His hands and His feet

Waiting for me

There's a place where His glory is seen

It's beyond my wildest dreams

Waiting for me

I know You're the God who reigns

I know You're the God who saves

I know that You walk on waves

I know that You'll never change

Passage:

1   And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” 2 And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”

3 And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished?” 5 And Jesus began to say to them, “See that no one leads you astray. 6 Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. 7 And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.

(Mark 13:1–8 ESV)

Musical Reflection:

“Air on the G String” from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major by J.S. Bach

Reflection Notes:

The slow, descending bass line creates musical “steps” in an elegant fashion while a suspended melody several octaves above creates a satisfying combination of sound registers.

Prayer:

Almighty and merciful God . . . grant, we beseech you, that we may so faithfully serve you in this life that we fail not finally to attain your heavenly promises, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Leonine Sacramentary
